So who am I?

My name is Jared and I am a second year 19 year old university student studying a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at Sydney’s University of Technology. As part of the requirement of a subject we are studying we are required to create and maintain an Edublog which will contain thoughts ‘relating to children’s creative use of learning technologies’. Hence, this will be the main purpose of this blog.
Along with study, I work at two Before and After School Cares which provide child care to primary aged children (age 5-12) from 7am till the start of school, and the end of school until 6pm. This is a vital service for working single parents, and working families that work for a whole business day. It is also an excellent opportunity for the children to play and work together with children of varying years, ages and abilities.
This work also provides a great insight into a primary school setting, and countless opportunities to critique my own behaviour management skills and dealings with both parents and children.
Socio-economically, the schools I have had practicum at, as well as those which I work at, live around and attended could all be zoned as upper-middle class/upper class schools: generally speaking the students are given access to a range of good quality working technologies both at home and at school, however I will go into more detail about this later.
